Bookshelf: THE NYMPH KING

I think I’m supposed to Outoftheblogosphere blog about this book either next week or the one after, but I just finished it and I wanted to recommend it because it’s on the shelves February 1. (That’s today!)

THE NYMPH KING is written by Gena Showalter, and if you love your mythic paranormals, you’re going to be verra, verra pleased. The story is this: Valerian, king of the nymphs, and his men have taken over a dragon palace in Atlantis. The interesting thing about nymphs is that they derive strength from sex…but there’s a shortage of women. Hence, they must go “above” to bring some females back for some hot seduction.

Once there, Valerian finds his true mate. Unfortunately, our heroine, Shaye, isn’t into the whole love thing, so he encounters quite a bit of reluctance. But that’s where the fun is: in Valerian having to win her over.

Now, I’ve always adored a good harem book; Bertrice Small’s stories have held me in thrall because they’re frequently set in sultry havens. Gena’s world isn’t too different from one of these tales. The sex is steamy, and her world—populated with creatures such as dragon men, vampires, and mermaids—is vividly imagined. And she will make you laugh. Such a clever thing is Ms. Showalter!

You’re going to have a great time with this one, so grab it. ;)
