Signing and Panel at Vista Strawberry Festival

If you're in the San Diego North County area this Sunday, I hope you stop by the Vista Strawberry Festival. Not only does it offer lots of food and fun (cooking demonstrations!!! Love.), it's going to host four great panels from my RWA, San Diego, chapter. I'll be on the paranormal panel at 12pm, but before that, I'm going to be signing in the booth with my good friend and critique partner Judy Duarte (10am-11:45am).

Whatcha Readin'? 5/20/11

I finished my last round of books, so here I am diving into another!

- Heat: An Amateur's Adventures as Kitchen Slave, Line Cook, Pasta-Maker, and Apprentice to a Dante-Quoting Butcher in Tuscany by Bill Buford
I just started this one on audio. You guys know how much I love foodie books, and the author has a great sense of humor, so I Like.

- 1776 by David McCullough
Another audio. Actually, this is a research book for me, since it has to do with background building and characterization for a new paranormal project I'm working on. (I'll be writing the chapters as soon as I finish a revision for a Special Edition, and I've been dying to write something for this project!)

- Turning Japanese by Cathy Yardley
Cathy is a friend of mine, and I lovelovelove her books. Somewhere along the line, we discovered that we had both written a story about girls who aspired to be comic book pencilers, although her heroine was pursuing manga. This is Cathy's published book, and it takes place mostly in Japan. Very fun fish-out-of-water story with the usual deft Yardley comic touch.

I'd love to hear what you guys are into right now...

Bloodlands excerpt!

I've posted an entire chapter from the first Bloodlands book on my site (which is going to be revamped very soon)!

BTW, after the revamp, the music will be gone, but if you want to turn it off now, there's a small "music off" button near the upper right side of the page. :)

Mysterious Galaxy B-Day today

Crazy about books? (Who out there isn't?) Today, you'll want to be at Mysterious Galaxy, if you're in the San Diego area. They've got featured authors and those who are going to pop in throughout the day (like me--I'll probably be there around 12:30 or 1:00 to browse all those lovely books and pick out a few).
